HOW TO GET AROUND FUERTEVENTURA?

Rent a car

Renting a car to travel around Fuerteventura is the most popular option if you are looking for flexibility to explore the island at your leisure.

You can rent a car by the hour or by the day, depending on the plan you want to make. You can also choose the brand and model if you feel more comfortable with a car you know. Once you have your car you can start exploring the island from end to end.

Explore its natural parks and beaches that will leave you totally impressed from the very first moment.

Just make sure you have a valid license at the time of rental.

Public transport

Travelling by public transport around Fuerteventura is also a great way to discover the island. Fuerteventura is connected by buses that pass through the main towns and villages of the island.

The TITSA company offers a good frequency of buses and routes to visit any town on the island and you can buy either return tickets or a public transport pass if you are going to use it regularly.

You can visit any beach or natural park on Fuerteventura by bus, but you can also visit archaeological museums and castles in towns and cities.

Rent a bike

If you like to practice sports during your tourist visits, renting a bike will be your favourite option for touring Fuerteventura. It is totally possible to visit any corner of Fuerteventura by bike, as the distances on the island are not very long and the towns and villages are perfectly connected.

To make your trip easier, you can always rent an electric bike, but you can also rent road bikes or mountain bikes. Just check availability and find the best price.

Go mountain biking on mountain bike routes designed for cyclists or follow road routes. As well as being an environmentally friendly option, cycling is a convenient option if you want much more flexibility than a car as it will allow you to discover off-the-beaten-path places and lesser-known beaches.

Rent a scooter

If you want something simple and easy to carry but no biking, scootering around Fuerteventura is for you. The ease of taking a scooter and getting around the island is what many people are looking for when it comes to getting around and enjoying the scenery.

Renting a scooter is very easy. You don’t need a motorbike license to drive a scooter under 125 cc, so a car driving license is enough.

Once you have the scooter you can explore the beaches of Corralejo and Jandia as well as the sand dunes. El Cotillo is a perfect place to relax, meanwhile in La Oliva, you can enjoy traditional island dishes.

Guided tour

If you prefer to have a guide show you around the island firsthand, then you can’t go wrong with a guided tour. The guides know every corner of the island and will give you advice on what you should and shouldn’t visit.

A tour guide is the best option if you don’t have much time to travel and don’t like to organise tours. Here you will meet many people who also want to discover the island.

There are many companies that offer these services and they are often aligned with different tastes and interests, so you will certainly have many routes to choose from. One of the most common tours is the visit to natural parks and beaches such as Jandía and its natural park or La Oliva.

Hiking

If you have come to Fuerteventura in search of adventure and new challenges, hiking will be your favourite way to do it. It is a paradise to practice this activity loved by many and with which you will be able to enjoy the natural beauty of the island.

If you want to go hiking in Fuerteventura, we recommend the Jandía Natural Park, a unique landscape covered with dunes and overlooking the sea. Another natural park is Corralejo, on the north of the island. A landscape surrounded by hiking trails and breathtaking views of the sea.

For the more experienced hikers, we recommend the Betancuria Nature Reserve. It has one of the most popular trails where you can visit a volcanic peak and craters.
